Simple Gifts

There is a wonderful old hymn called “Simple Gifts.”  The first words of this song are:  “ 'Tis a gift to be simple ‘tis a gift to be free.”  As the school year winds down and summer gently rolls over us, I think of the words of this song and thank God for the chance to slow down and enjoy the freedom of summer simplicity.  After all, God has given each of us many things – our lives, our families and this good earth.  Yet somehow they get so complicated and rushed that we often miss the simplest and most precious gift: God’s simple, no-strings-attached gift of grace.  This is the gift which frees us to be all that we were created to be.  It is a simple gift -- no frills, no flourishes, no trumpets or fanfares --  just the quiet majesty of all of God’s love and forgiveness showered on each of us freely!

Come join us this summer.  Come and hear, come and receive the simple gift of God’s love and forgiveness that will set you free and allow you to enjoy life!  Come and hear, come and receive, then stay and linger over a cup of coffee and a donut.  We love to get better acquainted.

 Peace,

 Pastor Mark
